Welcome to the unOfficial website of the Glorious People's Republic of Makara.
Currently situated on the southwestern tip of New Zealand's North Island (but soon to quite dramatically change its geographical location), the Republic is a rural area that is home to many human families, sheep, possums and goats.
But what makes Makara so special is that it is one of very few places in the world where the rare species of beast known scientifically as Windus turbinii, the Greater Unspotted Wind Turbine, can be found in its unnatural habitat and in extremely close proximity to human habitation. Closely related to the Lesser Unspotted Wind Turbine, The Greater Windus is easily distinguished by its unique call sign: an exceptionally loud, constant humming and whining, often combined with a thrumming or whooshing component.
